James Tabor

James joined the Bit Players in 2018 and has been Artistic Director of the group since January 2023.

Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Coppell, Texas, James moved to Rhode Island to attend URI where he graduated in 2016. At URI he met his now wife, Kelly, and they bonded over their mutual love for filmmaking & James' ability to always make her laugh. James & Kelly now live in Providence, RI where they work in Communication and Filmmaking. If you're lucky you might meet Kelly in the audience at one of the shows, or run into her stage managing a charity show or sketch performance at the Firehouse.

James started his comedy career by being removed from his high school talent show during his stand-up comedy routine. He then went on to host a very successful comedy radio show at URI, which was also cancelled mid-run. James kept his comedy career moving forward across the country where he trained with the Groundlings and the Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles from 2016-2018. Upon returning to the East Coast, James began performing with the Bit Players, and to his surprise they have let him stay all these years.
